2009-2010 President's Message to the Club:
To My Fellow Lions,
Well another Lionistic year is upon us! Whoever thought that I’d be King Lion? Just remember you voted me in! Hopefully, I will make you proud and serve the club with distinction.
Not in recent history has there been so many facing financial and personnel challenges which appears to continue through next year. These challenges impact our club, you our members and your families. It may become more difficult for many to give or make donations to the many of our worth while endeavors. Other organizations will be looking for Lions support. We must stay the course to support LCIF, Lions charities and our community needs but keep in mind we could be asked to help in areas we are not accustomed.
It may become more difficult for some of us to commit to Lions due to changes in job and family commitments. So whatever you can do is welcomed and appreciated. Facing these challenges we still need your active participation as well as from our new members. Part of being a Lion is participating in what ever form that takes. This could be just attending meetings, actively working on a committee or chairing a committee or most important working at club events. We all have time constants, other commitments and distractions so that is why I want our participation to be more purposeful.
Saying this, I’ve taken some steps in the face of changing tradition to eliminate our Social Meeting. We will only have one general business meeting and BOD meeting. If we have a special social event (Spouse night) it will be added. I am asking everyone to make every effort to attend the monthly Business Meetings and participate in club events. In addition, at each meeting to save time and focus on business, the minutes will not be read because they are sent to you electronically, Copies will be available at each meeting.
My goals for the upcoming year:
- Increase membership by 5
- Concentrate on finding one new fundraising event
- Most important: Have fun!
If we are going to work hard to support Lions Club charities, local charities and our community, lets have fun doing it!
I encourage any ideas or suggestions to help meet these goals.
King Lion
